SANTRAK (San Antonio N-TRAK)
is an “N” Scale model railroad club that is 100% modular according to N-TRAK
standards. In December 2005 we were asked to
vacate our former location at Westlakes Mall to make room for major
reconstruction. Since that time we have placed most of our modules in
temporary storage and have used them only for display at local train
shows. We try to meet the second Thursday of every month at Grady’s BBQ
located at 6510 San Pedro for an informal meeting and club social.
SANTRAK is a somewhat
informal club. We try to work toward a family orientated hobby
that will include at least one adult and any children within that family
that may have an interest in the hobby of model railroading. Our main
goals always remain the same and are: 1. to expand our knowledge of
modeling techniques, 2. to promote the hobby of “N”scale model
railroading to the general public, 3. to run trains and 4. to just
have fun.
As a club, we have standing
invitations to participate in four or five different train shows each
year in the San Antonio and New Braunfels area. We look forward to
these shows because they give us a chance to mingle with other clubs,
swap ideas and display our own modules. At the present time, we do not
go beyond the local area because of travel expenses.
Some of our members have been
working with “N” Scale equipment for over 20 years so it is just natural
that a few of us will become interested in a new type of modular layout
presently known as T-Trak. The modules are small, easy to build and
easy to transport but they still allow our present “N” Scale equipment
to run on a T-Trak layout. We will probably display a T-Trak layout at
a local show sometime in the near future.
Membership is open to all
adults that are interested in the art of “N” Scale model railroading on
a modular and portable type of layout. Our dues are just $25.00 per
calendar year.
Please feel free to stop by during our
next train show and just talk about model railroading with us. We have
even been known to discuss different techniques with “HO” modelers!! |
